The New York Times recently ran a story about the popularity of secret doors leading to hidden rooms in home remodeling.
Hidden doors and secret rooms have become an increasingly popular feature in American homes, whether the goal is foiling burglars, eking out extra storage or creating so-called safe, or panic, rooms for doomsday scenarios…Or (for) those who are still in thrall of beloved childhood books and shows, like “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” with its portal to Narnia…

This reminded us of a project we did for a client who wanted secret bookcase access between the stairway and their family room. We disguised the doorway as an entry hall wall on one side and as a bookcase in the opposite room.
