Not Necessarily Clutter: Renovating a Room to Reflect Your Personality

Rosalie Remodeling helped a couple customize their new condominium with built-ins to display their beloved book collection. Having downsized from a large house, the clients had discarded many possessions accumulated over the years; the books, however, had to stay. What’s more, they deserved a showpiece that would set them off.

After meeting with the couple to discuss their project, we designed floor-to-ceiling built-ins flanking the fireplace, incorporating shelves above for the book collection and cabinets below for storage. Using creative carpentry, we fashioned a replacement mantle in a vintage style more suited to the clients’ taste and added complementary crown molding around the entire ceiling. The condo now reflects the gracious ambiance reminiscent of our client’s previous home while dramatically increasing the display space for books and collectibles.

A second bookshelf was built into the wall of a family room and incorporated a window bench concealing the radiator.
