Award Winner · Design · Multi-Story Addition · Whole House Remodel
Project Background
This complete home remodel aimed to increase the size and scope of a 1920s Craftsman bungalow with an addition to the first floor, topped by a completely new second story. We incorporated Craftsman touches on a larger scale, with design elements honoring the home’s 100-year-old style inside and out.
The Result
Creative thinking during design and construction allowed us to take advantage of unique possibilities as they arose.
The most exciting of these was early in the project when we discovered the home’s original subfloor made of old-growth wood, most likely salvaged in the 1920s from a barn, judging by the faded red paint on one side. The planks were wide and in great condition, with lots of character. Nate incorporated the wood in various design elements, paying homage to the home’s original history.
