Project Background
Remodeling your childhood home comes with unique challenges, balancing modern updates in a space loaded with sentimental attachment. The second-generation owners of a turn-of-the-(last)-century home (complete with coach house and stables) came to us with just such a unique project. This multi-room remodel aimed to preserve certain memories while creating a brand new space for the next generation of the family to create memories of their own.
The Challenge
The kitchen was the heart of this project. Over time it had expanded to include the butler’s pantry and a small eat-in area, but it was fragmented by the original farmhouse layout. The homeowner wished to open up the space to include a vaulted cathedral ceiling while preserving special elements of sentimental value.
